ALL OF THIS IS REAL

In the beginning there was nothing. And then, there was Earl. An omniscient being who could do nothing but watch at the universe blooming before him. A universe where anything is possible, a universe where all of this is real. I, Jesse Ruger, draw and write these worlds as best as I can. From lush landscapes to dead wastelands, from thriving cities to crumbling ruins, I try to pave a way through all the worlds of reality. But these are not just my worlds, and it is not just Earl's universe, it is yours too. And so I invite you to travel through them and make them your own, and come up with your own. Because the worlds inside your mind are just as real.

My name is Jesse Ruger, creator behind Allofthisisreal (AOTIR). Ever since I can remember I was scribbling in the edges of my school books, writing stories and dreaming up strange places and faces. Around 2021 all my drawing and writing came together under the name 'Allofthisisreal'. After a night of reading on absurdist philosophy and quantum physics I came up with the idea of an omnipresent observer (Earl), who is watching the universe and its creations unfold. The short comic 'Earl stars in Earl & the Orb' shows the creation of this new universe, chronicled by me and observed by Earl.
Since then I have been expanding on this universe through stories, illustrations and short comics. Whether they have a direct context or stand as works of art on their own, they are all part of the same reality.

My work usually starts with a vague vision or emotion that slowly takes form and becomes a coherent image I then put on paper. I like to do most things by hand, especially the linework. Color is often done with alcohol or acrylic markers, pencil or, sometimes, digitally. There is a broad range of subjects I take inspiration from like film, music, literature, different artists and art-styles. Sometimes my works are an allegory for real life, other times the works are completely fantastical. Which is which and what is what I leave to you to decide, wonder and enjoy. On this website is a collection of most of my work and a link to my Instagram. Through time the website will be expanded and more art will be added. For now I hope you enjoy the things you see as much as I enjoyed making them.
